Victim of harassment since a young age, the young man admits to having thought of the worst.
According to him, it all started at school. From kindergarten, he felt a certain uneasiness. “I met someone not too long ago who was a schoolteacher so I asked her how little I was and she said I was like I am today… still very aloof and already in my bubble, very artistic. I never wanted to do things like everyone else. I was very wanting to dance, make music. A free electron”he confides, not without a hint of pride, before mentioning a “sadness” permed. “I only wanted to be with my family. At school I only cried, I didn’t want to go because I think I already felt the system where I was going to go. I didn’t want to lock myself into something that forces you to go into doing and not into being”.

“I almost died”
Over the years, this unpleasant feeling continued to grow, especially because of the other students. Victim of harassment, Nicolas Anselmo reveals to have “almost died”. “In primary school it was special for several reasons, but the hardest was middle school. These are the people who push to look at themselves. I was me and people insulted me. I was the target of a lot of people, even those who didn’t know me on the street asked me if I was a girl or a boy, even though those aren’t questions you ask yourself in primary school or college… I almost died. It was very hard. I could not any more.”
Luckily, the 25-year-old actor was able to count on the support of those close to him. “What kept me going is my family and friends.”, he says. And to continue: “I thought about it (suicide, editor’s note) but I could never have because I lost a friend like that […] He suffered a lot of homophobia, rejection, injustice.” Deeply affected by the loss of his friend, Nicolas Anselmo drew the necessary strength to face the trials and continue to fight.
