The South Korean brand Hyundai last week released the price range for one of the most important models in its recent history. The Ioniq 5, which aspires to be the automaker’s first high-volume electric vehicle, will beat entry-level electrics by just a few thousand dollars in a significantly more versatile format.

So, in exchange for $ 44,999, the buyer will be able to get their hands on a rear-wheel drive version capable of traveling 354 km with its 58 kWh battery and 225 hp rear engine. This will allow it, narrowly, to benefit from both federal and provincial incentives subtracting $ 13,000 after the addition of sales taxes.

For $ 44,999, the buyer of the 2022 Hyundai Ioniq 5 will be able to get their hands on a rear-wheel drive version capable of traveling 354 km with its 58 kWh battery.

To benefit from the larger capacity battery which increases the range to 480 km, it is necessary to extend an additional $ 7,000. It is also in this version (Preferred Long Range) that this Ioniq 5 will have the most kilometers in the bank. All-wheel-drive liveries, obviously equipped with two electric motors producing 320 hp in total, will be able to reach 415 km at an entry price of $ 54,999.

Under its singular neo-retro face, the Ioniq 5 has an electrical architecture that can support 800 V and is compatible with ultra-fast charging stations of 350 kW. This is a somewhat negligible advantage that no direct competitor offers for the moment. The recharging time is then very limited, estimated at 18 minutes to go from 10 to 80% on these terminals. However, they are still very rare in Quebec.

The first copies of the Ioniq 5 will arrive at dealerships in December.
