Hyundai recently released the first images of the new design that its Sonata will sport for a mid-cycle update. The midsize sedan is directly inspired by the latest version of the Kona crossover that makes its North American debut at the New York show this week.
It will therefore present itself with a resculpted face relying on the horizontality of a line of diodes to stand out. The headlights are placed significantly lower than before and integrated into the grille. The back takes up the same theme with a crochet line. It’s surprisingly dynamic as it looks and matches the brand’s rapidly evolving approach to products.
Inside, the dashboard has been redesigned to incorporate a dual-screen setup, like Hyundai’s latest models. Again, the horizontal lines take precedence.
Under the hood, you’ll find the same mechanics currently used, namely 2.5 L four-cylinder turbocharged and naturally aspirated engines as well as a 2 L four-cylinder hybrid. Hyundai hasn’t said at this time whether there will be a power boost for this sedan, which will go on sale later this year.
