Hydro-Québec will take stock at the end of the morning on the power outages that still affect thousands of homes on Wednesday morning.
According to the report published at 9 am by the state company, more than 80,000 customers were still without electricity at the start of the day due to 1,561 interruptions across the province.
The most affected region remained the Laurentians, where more than 40,000 customers were still without power. The number of customers affected was 18,186 in Lanaudière and 15,536 in Outaouais.
The President and CEO of Hydro-Québec, Sophie Brochu, will therefore provide an update at 11 a.m. in Saint-Jérôme on the subject of the outages. She will be accompanied by the vice-president of operations and maintenance Régis Tellier.
At the worst of the storm, 550,000 Hydro-Quebec customers had been without power due to thunderstorms, accompanied by strong winds, which shook Quebec and Ontario at the end of the day on Saturday.
Some 700 teams were on the ground Tuesday, including teams of contractors who came to lend a hand to those of Hydro-Québec, in order to restore power to as many customers as possible.
The task is complicated for Hydro-Quebec, while the line of violent storms hit a strip of territory 300 kilometers long by 100 kilometers wide, a magnitude rarely seen.
Trees have fallen on the power lines in several places and many poles need to be replaced.
Ten people lost their lives in Saturday’s thunderstorms, nine in Ontario and one in Quebec.
