The major episode of ice and winds in Quebec caused some damage on Saturday to Hydro-Quebec’s electricity network.

A peak was also crossed in the evening, when 308,452 customers were without power around 10:30 p.m. in the province, including 77,456 of them who were in Montreal, 95,251 in Montérégie, 38,650 in the Laurentians and 27 773 in the Outaouais.
Hydro-Quebec indicated on its website that the strong winds which affected several sectors of the province during the evening are responsible for the outages.
“Our fitters are mobilized and are already working to restore service. However, the winds which are still intensifying make it difficult for them, ”he said.
The number of Hydro-Quebec outages varied throughout the day on Saturday, with the state-owned company reporting 20,011 customers without electricity across the province at around 2 p.m.
At 4:30 p.m., nearly 6,792 households were still in the dark, and the majority of these outages affected customers in Montreal (2096) and the Laurentians (1106).
