One of these calls for tenders is for a 480 megawatt (MW) block of renewable sources and the other is for a 300 MW block of wind power.

It should be remembered that the growth in electricity demand in Quebec will reach 20 terawatt-hours (TWh), an increase of 12%, by 2029.

To cope with this significant growth, Hydro-Québec estimates that deliveries of these new blocks of electricity must begin in five years at the latest, i.e. November 30, 2026.

The energy blocks have been determined by the Government of Quebec and will, as usual, have to be approved by the Régie de l’énergie.

The deadline for submitting bids has been set for July 21, 2022.
