Husband of Israeli-Canadian woman killed in Hamas attack on October 7

The Israeli-American husband of a Canadian woman held hostage by Hamas since the October 7 attack is reportedly dead.

According to the American network ABC, the Forum of Families of Hostages and Missing People learned of the death of Gadi Hagi. The 73-year-old man was killed in the attack. Hamas then reportedly took his body back to Gaza.

The victim, who had dual Israeli and American nationality, was married to Judih Weinstein Haggai, who also has dual Israeli and Canadian nationality. She is believed to be among the hostages still being held by Hamas.

His family indicated that Mme Wenstein Haggai was born in New York State. She was three years old when the family moved to Toronto. Twenty years later, she emigrated to Israel with her husband.

The family said the couple had gone for a walk at the time of the October 7 attack. Mme Wenstein Haggai had time to send a text message to members of her village, saying that an armed motorcyclist had shot her husband. She herself suffered a minor injury.

ABC News reported that the Forum announced that Mr. Hagi was a musician who enjoyed making those around him laugh.
