It is no longer possible to hunt in Monistrol-sur-Loire and on the territory of the municipal hunting association. In a press release, the Haute-Loire prefecture announced on Thursday the temporary suspension of hunting after the resignation of the members of the association’s board of directors “which arose as a result of various incidents disturbing public order.“
President threatened by armed men
In reality, if the hunters who are members of the management of the ACCA have left their functions one after the other, it is because of the very tense climate in the hunting world in Monistrol-sur-Loire in recent weeks. On September 19, the president of the association was attacked on his farm. Early morning, three men dressed in black, hooded and armed with hunting rifles threatened him, asking him not to hunt wild boar any more and to resign, under penalty of attacking his family.
Very shocked, the president of the ACCA of Monistrol left his functions the next day and put his rifle in the closet. He also filed a complaint. But two weeks later, other members of the board were also reportedly threatened during a wild boar beat, also leading to their resignations.
“Do not add fuel to the fire”
“It’s very worrying to get there“, reacts Louis Granier, president of the departmental federation of hunters of Haute-Loire. “Putting the association under supervision was therefore the only thing to do. A police investigation is underway and it must be carried out in a calm manner. We do not want to add fuel to the fire.” By decree, the prefecture of Haute-Loire has set up an ACCA management committee, introduced until June 30, 2022, date of the end of the hunting season. The election of a new office could be organized, but it should not be done for several weeks.
