More than a hundred pigs invade the city center of this town in the Bouches-du-Rhône. The town hall and an association reject the responsibility. On the other hand, all the parties refuse the euthanasia of the animals.

Hundreds of Vietnamese-type black pigs have proliferated at the entrance to an activity zone in Marignane (Bouches-du-Rhône) for several months, after having escaped from the fenced wood in which they are supposed to live, reports France Provence blue.
There would henceforth be “about 150 males and a hundred females”, details Thierry Domert, manager of TCIM, interviewed by France Bleu Provence. As president of the association “toothless”, the town hall ceded to him “as a courtesy” a land of two hectares surrounded for a year by a fence, in return for the reception and maintenance of pigs. The fence is regularly vandalized, and the animals are found at large, along the departmental 9, on the railway track, and in the car parks of shops and businesses. Many inhabitants feed them, although it is forbidden.
A meeting is scheduled at the end of the month with the prefecture of Bouches-du-Rhône, but the situation is currently blocked. Association “toothless” and the town hall accept responsibility for the proliferation of pigs in Marignane.
Joined by France Bleu Provence, the deputy mayor of Marignane in charge of animal health, Véronique Tardy, recalls that the city has for two years “multiplied the actions”, by proceeding in particular “to different castrations”. An additional hundred was planned for December 2021, refused by the president of the association “toothless”. The latter explains that he refused because the operation was planned over three half-days and only concerned about twenty animals.
Thierry Domert informed the town hall of the end of the “krokmou” association on January 15, “to find a solution” : “They’re not and never were my pigs! They’ve always been wild pigs coming into my business through the woods. But I say it again: no animal will ever bother me. they will be there, they will have to eat and drink “.
Euthanasia of pigs is not a solution being considered.
