An investigation is underway in Saskatchewan to try to determine the provenance of human remains discovered on the territory of the Big Island Lake Cree Nation, in the northwest of the province.

Pierceland, Saskatchewan RCMP say they responded to a call in connection with the discovery of human remains on April 21. He subsequently withheld the found remains and initiated a thorough search of the premises, which yielded negative results.
“An autopsy in forensic identification has [également] was completed on April 24, in Saskatoon”, according to the police. The results of this autopsy [ont] helped eliminate some recent missing persons cases from this area.”
The case is now in the hands of the RCMP’s National Center for Missing Persons and Unidentified Remains (CNPDRN).
Authorities are asking anyone with information about the case to contact them.
