Rians transforms into cheese, faisselle or dessert more than 130 million liters of milk from cows, goats and sheep. 1,500 employees spread over 17 production sites. Rians achieves a turnover of 300 million euros. Hubert Triballat is the guest of “It marks us”.
The story begins in the small farm of Pétereau in Rians in Berry. We are in 1901 and Désiré and Francine Triballat, who are simple farmers, decide to sell some of their cheeses on the markets of neighboring towns. Their products acquire a small local reputation.
In 1952, their grandson, Hubert Triballat directly set up a dairy within the family farm. With his three employees, he will therefore also transform his neighbors’ milk into cheese. It is a success. The glorious 309s are starting soon, supermarkets will start to grow like mushrooms and the Triballat will make the choice of industrial development.
In 1970, Rians already had 200 employees when a brand new cheese specialty with garlic and fine herbs was developed. The Rolled.
When we ask Hugues Triballat if these industrial cheeses can be as good as those found in artisan cheese makers, he is indignant: “A large part of our products are made with raw milk, we make appellations. of origin, so let’s respect the same specifications as the refiners. And we have small sites, some only manufacture one product such as Picodon or Poligny St Pierre or Rocamadour and we only have on these sites 4, 5, 8 people. So these are really workshops very respectful of the way of doing well and really very close to the craftsman “.
The brand puts a lot of emphasis on its actions in terms of sustainable development: “It is certain that making our business sustainable will require adapting the period to the present day, explains Hugues Triballat. We will not succeed as we did 20 or more ago. 40 years old and therefore it is necessary to adapt to consumers who tell us new things.
Today, consumers want gourmet products that are also healthy. Healthy for the body but also healthy for the planet. They are prepared to pay a few cents more, but it is true that they want good branded products but also inexpensive products.
