huge incident in the center of Lille for the actor who was going to the theater this Wednesday evening, the police arrive urgently!

It was at 8 p.m. that his concert was to begin at the Sébastopol theater in Lille. However, demonstrators decided otherwise. As relayed by our colleagues from RTL, a hundred demonstrators responded to a call from various local feminist collectives. For several minutes, the latter prevented the spectators from going into the performance hall, chanting in particular: “You have no shame” Or “You are financing a rapist”.

This anger follows recent revelations from Mediapart. The media indeed unveiled on Tuesday April 11, a long investigation in which 13 new testimonies accuse Gérard Depardieu of sexist and sexual violence. But this movement against the 74-year-old comedian did not please everyone in the center of Lille. A 58-year-old viewer, for example, denounced to RTL: “This demonstration is completely unjustified because, until proven otherwise, Depardieu has not been convicted for anything at all, so it is only suspicion”.

The demonstrators, angry with Gérard Depardieu

On the side of the demonstrators, the discourse is obviously different. “We think it’s indecent that Gérard Depardieu is there, that he sings Barbara. As a woman and a trade unionist, we had to be there”assures for his part a retiree of National Education.

The blocking of the Sébastopol theater lasted for long minutes and even forced the police to move. Indeed, the police were dispatched to the site to open new access to spectators wishing to enter the premises and attend the concert of Gérard Depardieu. This one, on his side, “formally denies all the charges likely to fall under criminal law”as indicated by the law firm Temime, in charge of defending it to Mediapart.
