The ceremony was intended to be as festive as possible, like Xana, 18, who died last Sunday in a road accident in Larressore. She was returning from La Nuba, the Dantxaria nightclub, with some friends. It is not yet known if the driver had been drinking but according to the first testimonies he was driving too fast. Xana was a passenger in the vehicle and she’s the only one who died instantly. She was from Villefranque. This Saturday the church was packed for his funeral.

His friends wore white and pink clothes, “his favorite colour”they were “well dressed because Xana was a starlet”slips one of them, the smile mingled with tears. “Above all, above all, do not drive if you have been drinking! This is a message that apparently does not get across enoughshe continues. Every day people die from alcohol. There, what hurts even more is that it is our little princess”. At his side his friend Pedro abounds: “I’m very careful in the car because more and more people do anything or want to impress others. But the car is not a toy, we have to remember that, especially for young people.”
Prevention message for young people
After the tribute choreography, the readings of her friends in tears in front of the photo of the young woman with the big blue eyes displayed on the altar, the video message of her favorite singer live from Los Angeles broadcast in the church of Villefranque and the mass in his honor, it is this message of prevention that his aunt, Marine, wanted to transmit. “Celebrate but… also think of your loved ones. We died with her. Her brother, her mother, her father, her grandparents, her friends whom I heard screaming, torn, especially think of them”.
Last Sunday Xana obviously followed some friends in the car, leaving the Nuba, when she had planned to return by shuttle. This Saturday at his funeral two passengers of the vehicle were there, injured. The manager of the nightclub too.
