Every day, Didier Boulet and his son come to check the extent of the damage in their family roasting factory. These boxes filled with coffee are always damp. Here, the water reached 20 centimeters and damaged some machines that were difficult to replace. “You have to wait at least six months before getting a new machine”, sighs Didier Boulet. After being hit for the first time in November, the company was again impacted by the flood.
Weakened businesses
Other businesses in Pas-de-Calais are also weakened, even when they have not been flooded. Alice Gevart’s company installs electrical networks on public roads. Dozens of construction sites are canceled since November. The cost of its loss could reach several thousand euros. In total, 400 businesses have been flooded since November.
