Late into Saturday night, the three men worked on the letter announcing Joe Biden’s withdrawal. “Serving as your president has been the greatest honor of my life. And while I sought re-election, I believe it is in the best interests of my party and country that I step down.”the statement said. These words were read just before their broadcast by members of the candidate’s team. Only three people were let into the secret a few hours before, including Vice President Kamala Harris.
