Health: how to take care of your kidneys?
(France 2)
Present on the 13 Heures set, Friday March 8, doctor and France Télévisions journalist Damien Mascret shares advice for keeping your kidneys in good health.
National Kidney Week begins on Saturday March 9 to raise awareness of the importance of this sometimes abused organ. “These kidneys are very important for hydration, but not only that”, explains Damien Mascret, doctor and journalist from France Télévisions, present on the set of 13 Heures, Friday. To protect your kidneys, it is advisable to avoid salt, which is present in cold meats, cheeses, pizzas, ready-made meals, etc. You must also monitor your blood pressure and hydrate well.
NO SMOKING
“When you go to the toilet, just look at the color of your urine. When it’s pale, it’s perfect, you’re well hydrated. If it’s dark or amber, you’re not drinking enough.”, adds the doctor. Finally, to preserve your kidneys, you should not smoke and be careful of excess protein. “No more than 500 g of red meat per week”concludes Damien Mascret.
