How to reconnect with the wild?

Today you are telling us about a collective work. What is it about ?

I wanted to share my latest find with you. “How to reconnect with the savage?”. Sacred question eh! It is also the name of the special issue of the “1ndispensables” collection, from Philippe Rey editor. Note that Philippe Rey is an independent publisher who set up his publishing house in 2002 and today he publishes several collections. The one that interests us this Monday is therefore the Indispensables which has 19 titles available all written under the direction of novelist Eric Fottorino, the first guarantee of quality. And we summon specialists from all walks of life, but obviously related to the subject, to answer a social question. Some examples from previous issues. We could read, “Why Trump” or “What the covid taught us” or “The yellow vests and after” and “The new fights of women”.

But what is the last one about?

Ah yes you are right to call me to order, when I left they do not stop me. The new kid is therefore “How to reconnect with the wild” which invites us to reflect on endangered biodiversity. In the various interviews compiled in this issue, we can see the damage, see the very alarming latest report from the IPCC, but we are also interested in the initiatives that are put in place to save and protect living things. It is extremely comprehensive. So we ask Jane Goosall, an ethologist, why it is so important to protect forests as a priority, Bruno David, a naturalist, the main reason for the disappearance of certain species, all this is also supplemented with articles by journalists, one of which bears on the ambiguity of wilderness tourism with zoos, parks and reserves. We find the point of an associative activist, that of a philosopher. Is this the sixth mass extinction of life? This book is capital at a pivotal moment in the future of humanity, quite simply. It’s smart exciting and also unfortunately a little scary but it makes you want to help change things.

“How to reconnect with the wild” under the direction of Eric Fottorino it is 9 euros and it is published in the collection 1ndispensables at Philippe Rey.
