In the coming days, you may receive an email telling you that your computer data has been hacked, in the biggest security breach ever produced in France. The information of 33 million people, or nearly one in two French people, was stolen. Among the stolen data, marital status (name, date of birth), the name of the health insurer and the guarantees of the contract taken out, but also the social security number. According to authorities, the hackers did not have access to banking information or medical data, but the attack remains worrying.
Vigilance for fraud attempts
Cybersecurity experts recommend making all your passwords more complex as quickly as possible: no first name or date of birth. To carry out such a massive attack, the hackers targeted two companies serving as intermediaries between doctors and complementary health insurance providers. If you are affected by the attack, your complementary service will have to alert you by email for example, but be careful of fraud attempts. The authorities also recommend checking your bank accounts regularly in the coming days.
