Before sowing your next crop, it’s always a good idea to clean up your garden a bit. Here are some tips from Jacky Mercier, organic market gardener in Frontenay-sur-Dive.
- Take out previous cultures : the last potatoes, green beans, cucumbers, tomatoes, zucchini, eggplant…
- Apply fertilizer organic (algae base, manure, etc.) and/or compost and/or green manure (mustard for example)
- Bury the fertilizer and turn the soil with a tiller or a grelinette
- scratch the ground when sowing your new vegetables
All of this should be done at least 10 days before sowing (and ideally 3 weeks/one month) to give the fertilizer time to decompose.
