At least 40 children have been poisoned after eating the brand’s contaminated pizzas Buitoni. How to explain the presence of the bacterium E. coli in these products?
It is an E bacterium. coli which caused two deaths and dozens of hospitalizations of children. They had all eaten frozen pizzas”Fraîch’UP” of the brand Buitoni. But, how did the bacteria contaminate these pizzas? These microbes are found in the digestive tract of ruminants, such as cows or goats. Transmission to humans can most often occur through food from these animals, through raw plants, or through direct contact with an infected animal or person.
A health investigation is underway to understand what may have happened in the factory of Caudry (North)where the pizzas are made. According to Nestlé, the samples taken did not show anything abnormal. Another avenue studied: flours, which are another vector of infection. The bacteria E. coli produce a toxin that causes a serious syndrome. To limit the risk, on the consumer side, care must be taken to cook the meat well and to wash your hands well.
