COP 28 will be held in four days in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. All countries are invited to reduce their greenhouse gas emissions. An indicator is closely scrutinized, the carbon footprint, to see if commitments are kept.

Carbon footprint is now a term that everyone knows. But how to calculate it? All you have to do is use an online application, and dissect your daily life, particularly concerning the use of transport, food, an element which generally weighs the most among households, the type of accommodation inhabited or even the number of pants purchased during the year.

Target two tonnes

The French average is around nine tonnes per inhabitant per year. Experts estimate that we should not exceed two tonnes to limit global warming. Calculating your carbon footprint allows you to better identify areas where you can reduce your emissions. This calculation has been compulsory for ten years in large companies. In France, industry is responsible for 18% of greenhouse gas emissions.
