The black-bottomed tomato has a name:
it’s called bee necrosis.
Thank you Jacky Mercier, market gardener in Frontenay on Dive, our gardening guide on Mondays at 10:35 a.m. on France Bleu Poitou.
What causes this disease? We must look on the side of the lack of water and also the lack of calcium.
Last year, there was no bee necrosis: the summer was wet.
The disease sets in when there is water stress at the time of flowering. The solution ? A regular supply of water at the time of said flowering.
To listen again for the details given by Jacky Mercier.
