Wednesday, May 18, the doctor and journalist Damien Mascret gives advice to avoid heat stroke, while exceptional temperatures affect France.
“In heat stroke, it is the interior temperature that starts to rise and exceeds 40 degrees”explains the doctor and journalist Damien Mascret on the set of 12/13, Wednesday, May 18. “When we are over 40 degrees, the body does not work very well. We will have a headache, we will have nausea, we will be tired”, continues the doctor. These signs indicate that the brain is affected and that the person is dehydrated.
“It means that you even risk losing consciousness, being in a coma. There are even deaths sometimes from heatstroke. So it’s really something to be taken seriously”, warns Damien Mascret. To lower the body temperature, it is necessary to drink a lot, because perspiration evacuates the heat. If a person is unconscious, they must be put in the shade, ventilated and undressed. Cold can also be applied to the carotid, under the arm or in the groin.
