In the Borély park in Marseille, the essentially French-speaking program of the Marsatac festival wanders between hip-hop and electro. The organizers have invited this year Hamza, Gazo, Tiakola, Aya Nakamura, Ascendant Virgo… only names likely to attract a young audience. This is the pride of Béatrice Desgranges, who founded the festival and is still its director: “We do public studies every year, and for 25 years the public of Marsatac has been 25 years old!”
Alex Stevens and Mathieu Fonsny, recognized for their work at Dour (the most popular festival in Belgium), have been the artisans of the program for five years. They melted well in the spirit of Marsatac: “We want the new generations to enjoy the festivals as we did. The moment of the first festival with the friends, it was an important passage in life, for us. And that’s how we think the festival.”
Illustration of this state of mind: the new generation of Marseille rap is displayed on a special stage.
