We know more about the project of a potential takeover of SAM, the Aveyron foundry, based in Viviez, which was liquidated in December, leaving 365 employees unemployed. The Occitanie Region and the Ministry of the Economy confirmed, this Friday, to finance the studies carried out by the company MH Industries, which owns the Diace foundry, in Vayrac, in the Lot.
200.00 euros paid by the State
In all, the Lotoise company will receive 1.4 million euros to work on the SAM project. 1.2 million will be financed by the Occitanie Region. This sum will make it possible to create a project team within the Diace foundry. Employees who will work on the takeover project. And then the remaining €200,000 will be paid by the State. They should allow the boss of MH Industries to launch financial studies (business plans, financial trajectory) essential before the recovery.
But Bercy insists: the project is interesting, the businessman, Matthew Hede, has experience, but nothing is done. There is no business plan yet. We do not yet know, for example, which SAM machines will have to be bought.
Objective 2023
In any case, this potential buyer has been reassured by these aid announcements of the region and the state. So far, he did not want anyone to communicate on the name of his company. With this 1.4 million euros he therefore comes out of the shadows. Studies will last until this summer for a potential revival of the Viviez foundry in 2023.
Presidential issue.
In any case, the former employees of the foundry, by not letting go since the liquidation in December, have become a symbol of French industry that must be saved. Carole Delga was the first to talk about the reindustrialization possible from the site. And because she moved forward, Bercy finally had to look into the file. For a few weeks, the announcements of the Region on the previous subject of a few hours or a few minutes that of the State. The clash between LREM and the PS two months before the presidential election is also being played out in Aveyron. Sometimes to the detriment of those who have lost their jobs and who have been struggling for months. The Region, for example, announced a number of employees potentially included in the new project, before retracting so as not to create false hopes.
Factory occupied for almost 100 days
In any case, the ex-founders are not not fooled of this shallot race. They also feel that the challenge is that their factory, which has been occupied for almost 100 days, will soon no longer be so. History to be able to show well, at the time of the presidential one that the problem of the SAM is really solved.
