The hugely popular Honda Civic sedan has been renewed for the year 2022. However, its hatchback variant has not received the same success. Thanks to its now more competitive cost, will it be able to attract a larger clientele?
From an aesthetic point of view, “the rear part is much prettier than the previous generation,” explains columnist Antoine Joubert. We have refined the lines. We got rid of the false diffusers and air intakes, which weighed down the look enormously, ”he adds.
The consumer can choose between three distinct versions: the LX, Sport and Sport Touring. Unfortunately, you have to look to the Civic sedan to drive the Si variant.
However, “Honda will probably arrive in 2023 with a Type R version of the Civic. [à hayon] », Specifies Antoine.
Mechanically, the LX is powered by a 2.0-liter four-cylinder that develops 158 horsepower and 138 lb-ft of torque. A 1.5-liter turbocharged engine with 180 horsepower and 177 lb-ft of torque powers the other variants. The six-speed manual transmission is offered in all models, as is a CVT transmission.
On board, the interior of the Civic has been completely redesigned. “It’s frankly better designed than in the past,” says the columnist. He adds that the sedan offers a better driving position, more comfortable seats and increased visibility compared to the old version.
