Hamas hostages: how many Israelis are still detained?
Hamas hostages: how many Israelis are still detained? – (France 2)
While Hamas hostages have been released for several days, 149 Israelis are still being held hostage on Wednesday, November 29.
A 10-month-old baby, his 4-year-old brother and their mother, kidnapped on October 7, are still detained by Hamas. He claims that they died in an Israeli bombing, which the army verifies. “Hamas kidnapped them, Hamas must return them to us as quickly as possible”, assures Ofri Bibas, member of the Bibas family. Hostages or missing, alive or dead, the authorities do not always have proof of life or certainty. But surprises can arise. The young Frenchman, Eitan, released Monday November 27, confirmed to a woman that his sister was alive.
Soldiers negotiated last
After the latest releases in Gaza, Wednesday November 29, there remain 149 Israeli hostages, including 4 children, 21 women and 124 men. Negotiations will continue and the remaining ones should be exchanged for a larger number of Palestinian prisoners. “I think Hamas will keep the soldiers to negotiate them last”, assures Moti Crystal, former Israeli negotiator. Two other Palestinian factions are believed to be holding hostages.
