Thursday June 16, Emmanuel Macron visited Ukraine for the first time since the start of the war in the country. What is the Kremlin’s view of the French president’s visit? Explanations with journalist Luc Lacroix, live from Saint Petersburg (Russia).
For the first time since the start of the war, Emmanuel Macron went to Ukraine on Thursday June 16. “Officially, the Kremlin spokesman says he hopes this visit by European leaders will encourage Volodymyr Zelensky (Ukrainian President) to see the reality of the situation”explains Luc Lacroix, live from Saint Petersburg (Russia). “But, behind the scenes, on the side of the Kremlin, I have been told for some time that what counts is not words but actions”continues the journalist.
“And the acts are the deliveries of arms by France to the Ukrainians, in particular the deliveries of Caesar guns. Emmanuel Macron rightly said today (this Thursday) that there would be six more”specifies Luc Lacroix. “And that doesn’t please Moscow at all. It is therefore over the time when the Russian authorities appreciated the visit and then the calls of Emmanuel Macron, his desire to maintain the dialogue at all costs”he concludes.
