In Ukraine, in Israel, or receiving foreign delegations, Yaël Braun-Pivet actively practices “parliamentary diplomacy”. The President of the National Assembly is indeed hyperactive outside the chamber, in France or abroad.
She has just returned from a trip to Ukraine during which she spoke in front of Parliament to reiterate France’s support. While in recent months rumors have been growing around a presidential ambition, Yael Braun-Pivet joins the list of potential candidates to succeed Emmanuel Macron.
“She is gaining political weight and is becoming a good President of the Assembly,” notably ensures a framework of Macronie. Among the members of the opposition it inspires as much “respect” that of “mistrust”, but everyone admits it: she “embodies” its institutional function and feels “grow wings”. “Yaël Braun-Pivet is in the race for the presidential election”assures a minister.
Faced with the rumors, a right-wing executive tried to question the person concerned about her ambitions: “people in the street ask me that question”replied Yaël Braun-Pivet, enigmatic. “She is trying to make her presidency something political”confirms a left-wing executive, citing the episode of the Constitutionalization of abortion. “Yaël Braun-Pivet put herself on stage at Versailles, that’s for sure, she aims higher, the perch is only a stage in her career”she asserts.
