Monday April 4, journalist Sandrine Feydelpresent on the set of 19/20, reveals the tricks of supermarkets to keep certain products at low prices.
While the price of pasta has increased by 13.4% in one year and that of oil by 7.4%, prices could rise further. “Inflation could be even higher in the coming months, specialists speak of 4% to 5%“, announces the journalist Sandrine Feydelon the set of 19/20, Monday April 4. “If supermarkets pass on this inflation everywhere, they risk losing customers“, continues the journalist.
Some products may not, or only slightly, increase. These are the ones that are purchased the most, or to which consumers are sensitive: spreads, bottles of water or soft drinks. The other strategy of supermarkets? “Increase the quantity and visibility of distributor brands, in particular by highlighting more first prizes, which are sometimes a little neglected“, explains Sandrine Feydel. Finally, promotions on popular products and major brands are also considered.
