The UN, France and the European Union have condemned the attack on the Israeli city of Tel Aviv. A drone killed one person on the night of Thursday 18 to Friday 19 July, thwarting the defence system, an attack claimed by the Houthi rebels in Yemen.

A loud buzzing sound in the sky of Tel Aviv (Israel), a drone flies over the city, on the night of Thursday 18 to Friday 19 July, before crashing into a residential area. A huge explosion sounds, 600 metres from the American consulate. There are scenes of panic in the streets a few minutes later, a man was killed and several people were injured. In the early morning the damage caused by the explosion is clearly visible. The windows of a building have been blown out.

The attack was claimed by the Houthi rebels of Yemen, close to Iran and allied with Hamas in the war against Israel. The drone’s engine was found, an Iranian-made device, improved to travel a long distance but which was not destroyed in time by the Israeli army. In the meantime, in the Gaza Strip, the war continues with new Israeli bombings.
