Hotel Victoria: a new restaurant for Marie-Fleur St-Pierre

It’s been three years since chef Marie-Fleur St-Pierre left the metropolis for the invigorating air of Bas-du-Fleuve. Based in Saint-Pascal-de-Kamouraska, she joined forces with Christian Bégin, who also has his house in the region, to take over Le Jardin du Bedeau, a fine grocery store in the village of Kamouraska, where she notably offers a nice offer ready-to-eat.

Open a restaurant again? First we needed the spark, which came in the form of an almost mythical place in the area: the Victoria Hotel. “Everyone here has a story to tell,” says the woman who literally “fell in love” with this space which once housed a restaurant (and even a “very hidden” bar).

When the premises were rented last fall, it was the sign expected by the chef, who joined forces here with Samuel Dionne (co-owner of the chocolate factory La Fée Gourmande, in Kamouraska) and her friend Hélène McKoy, installed in the region, but known in particular for having started the Pouzza Fest and having been general director of L’Écurie, in Montreal.

The place, officially opened last week after having been in event mode since last December, serves bistro-style cuisine that will evolve according to the chef’s inspiration. An offer that is intended to be affordable and relaxed for residents, and possibly visitors who will flock to the region with the good weather. Marie-Fleur counts on a few allies: mixologist Julien Vézina (Hono) signs her cocktail menu, while sommelier Denis Lessard (formerly at Le Serpent, and now also based in the region) has put together her wine list. Promising!

In action from Wednesday to Saturday, with a menu snacks offered from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m., then an evening menu afterwards, the restaurant is also open for lunches, from Wednesday to Friday. Please note, the establishment will exceptionally serve Easter brunches on March 30 and 31.
