Charges have been laid against Yvon Guernon, 84, his spouse Lilianne Liboiron, 83, and their daughter Linda Guernon, 56, following a complaint filed by a victim, who had been placed with this family in 1980.

“The sexual assaults started as soon as he arrived. She suffered acts of a sexual nature from the three co-defendants over a period of 5 to 7 years, until she left this foster family, “says a statement issued Monday by the Police Department of the City of Montreal (SPVM).

other victims

The SPVM is now trying to identify other potential victims of the trio. “Other children having been accommodated there over the years, the investigators have reason to believe that there could be other victims”, underlines the police force.

On December 23, the Guernon-Liboiron couple and their daughter appeared at the Montreal courthouse to face various charges, including gross indecency, sexual assault and sexual contact. They will return to court on February 14.

Yvon Guernon had already been found guilty, in 1992, of indecent assaults committed in 1966 against minor girls who were housed in his foster family. He had received a one-year prison sentence.

“Anyone who has been a victim or a witness to reprehensible acts of a sexual nature committed by the co-defendants is invited to go to their neighborhood station or to communicate directly with the investigators of the Sexual Assault Section at 514 280-8502”, asks the SPVM.
