The star host of the C8 channel, Cyril Hanouna, was found guilty of defamation on Tuesday, May 31, and sentenced to the payment of a suspended fine of 500 euros. This condemnation of the 17th chamber of the Paris court relates to comments made on the program “Touche pas à mon poste” (TPMP) on February 25, 2020.

Cyril Hanouna then received Abousofiane Moustaïd, convicted of aggravated pimping in the Zahia affair, which shook the world of football in 2010. This is also how the host had presented him before announcing that his guest had obtain a retrial thanks to the unpublished testimony of an escort girl. Cyril Hanouna added, addressing Abousofiane Moustaïd: “It was the Swiss businessman Yves Bouvier who was allegedly behind Zahia’s paid sex, and not you”.

Yves Bouvier had very quickly taken legal action for these remarks which he considered defamatory. The 17th correctional chamber of the Paris judicial court has just given him reason and specifies in its judgment that“in view of the seriousness of the facts, the circumstances of the offense and his personality”, he condemns Cyril Hanouna.

Abousofiane Moustaïd is also sentenced, for remarks made during the same program, to a suspended fine of 500 euros. Both are also jointly and severally ordered to pay 2,000 euros in damages and 2,000 euros in legal costs to Yves Bouvier.

Consequence for the star host: a first mention in his criminal record so far blank. Yves Bouvier’s lawyer, Philippe Valent, said to himself “delighted with these convictions and that we can finally put an end to these nauseating rumors relayed without discernment. This decision is a clear message.” Cyril Hanouna was sentenced in his absence and without raising a defense: he did not appoint any lawyer to represent him.
