It is supposed to be one of the best protected rooms in the clinic, accessible after a maze of corridors: the endoscope room in Nancy (Meurthe-et-Moselle) was burglarized a year ago. Exactly 13 endoscopes: high-tech instruments equipped with cameras and fiber optics, which are used in particular to diagnose cancers. The perpetrators were filmed by hospital cameras. We see them passing through the emergency room door like simple patients with wheeled suitcases, and heading without hesitation towards the famous premises.
One million Euros
In a few minutes, they take with them loot of a million euros. Three months later, the endoscopes were finally found by the police, but in the meantime, investigators discovered a network based in Luxembourg. The thieves made one burglary attempt, then two others in Belgium, before finally succeeding five times in Ile-de-France.
