Patients hospitalized and treated in intensive care in connection with COVID-19 are on the rise, according to the latest report from the Government of Quebec.
Health authorities on Thursday reported an increase of ten hospitalizations, bringing the total to 1,944, including 649 who are being treated specifically for the disease.
In intensive care, there are 52 hospitalized patients, including 32 due to COVID-19, which represents an increase of seven.
There are nearly 3,800 healthcare workers who are currently on sick leave.
Twelve additional deaths have been added to the toll, which now stands at 17,077 since the start of the pandemic. Two of those deaths occurred in the last 24 hours, six two to seven days ago and four more than seven days ago.
The authorities have also reported 881 new cases, but this data is not entirely representative, because access to screening centers is restricted to priority clienteles. As for rapid tests, 181 were recorded on Wednesday, including 153 who are positive.
According to the ministry’s dashboard, the positivity rate is 8.4%.
On Wednesday, 21,838 Quebecers received a dose of vaccine. According to the latest assessment, 25% of adults have received a dose of vaccine for less than five months. Nearly 22 million injections have been administered in total.
