Hospitalizations linked to COVID-19 are still falling in Quebec

Hospitalizations of patients with COVID-19 continued to decline on Friday, but deaths attributed to the disease continue to be numerous.

Authorities have announced 13 new deaths linked to the disease, but none have occurred in the past 24 hours. Two people died two to seven days ago, and eleven more than seven days ago.

Since the start of the week alone, Quebec has reported 71 deaths from the disease. There are a total of 17,936 Quebecers who have lost their lives since the start of the pandemic.

However, the results in hospitals are more encouraging. As of Friday, 1,569 patients with COVID-19 were hospitalized, including 493 due to the disease, which represents a decrease of 62.

Significant drop also in intensive care, where only 27 people were treated, a decrease of eight. Among these people, 16 are treated specifically for the disease.

The new cases reported remain at a rather low level, at 419, but it should be borne in mind that these figures are certainly underestimated due to the limited access to testing centres.

Quebecers also self-reported 35 rapid tests on Thursday, including 32 that turned out to be positive.

As for the vaccination against COVID-19, 2,596 doses were administered on Thursday.
