Hospitalizations and deaths related to COVID-19 are down in Quebec

Hospitalizations and deaths related to COVID-19 are down in Quebec.

According to data published Saturday by Santé Québec, the number of hospitalizations stands at 2,447, a drop of 94 compared to what was announced on Friday. Authorities count 181 patients in intensive care, a drop of three.

Thirty-three deaths were added to the death toll. We now deplore 13,453 deaths linked to COVID-19 since its appearance in Quebec.

The Ministry of Health reports 2,955 new cases, for a total of 878,384 people infected since the start of the pandemic. However, the number of cases listed is not representative of the situation since access to screening centers is restricted to priority clienteles.

The average of new cases for the past seven days stands at 3,108, a drop of more than 16% from the previous Saturday.

Santé Québec does not indicate during the weekend the number of rapid tests that have been self-reported on the platform set up by the government.

The Minister of Health, Christian Dubé, on Saturday invited those who had contracted COVID-19 since December 21, but who had not undergone a PCR test, to register on the site https://covid19.quebec .ca/self-declaration/home to indicate the date of their rapid test. “It allows us to plan the date of the booster doses,” he said on Twitter.

The number of active outbreaks also decreased, from 1389 to 1367.

A total of 27,710 analyzes were performed on February 3. The positivity rate slipped 0.3 percentage points to 10.8.

No less than 46,030 doses of vaccine have been administered in the past 24 hours, including 33,859 booster doses.

The percentage of people aged 5 and over who received a first dose is still around 90%. It is also reported that approximately 85% of the Quebec population received a second dose and that approximately 47% received a booster dose.
