An 81-year-old patient died on September 1, after spending 22 hours on a stretcher in the emergency room of Strasbourg, in Bas-Rhin. Journalist Caroline Arnold, live from Strasbourg, Wednesday September 14, says more about the facts.
Strasbourg emergency room (Bas-Rhin)an 81-year-old patient died after spending 22 hours on a stretcher. “According to the FO union, it was during the transmission between the morning team and the afternoon team, on September 1, that the death of this patient was reported. He would therefore have spent more than 20 hours in the emergency room, on a stretcher. This death was unexpected. He was declared a serious adverse event.explains journalist Caroline Arnold, live from Strasbourg, Wednesday, September 14.
“For the time being, no medical problem, no lack of care would have been pointed out”continues the journalist. “Still according to the FO union, this death would once again illustrate the emergency situation here in Strasbourg”adds Caroline Arnold, specifying that the union has launched a right of alert and written a letter to the Minister. FO recalls that last March, a patient had already died in the emergency room of a digestive haemorrhage, after having expected many hours.
