Horrifying death of a young motorcycle champion at just 8 years old

The automotive world is in mourning after the tragic death of the very young Mathis Bellon. At only 8 years old, the young boy was seen as a great hope of French sport, but unfortunately his promising career came to a tragic end. Originally from Reunion Island, the motorcycling prodigy started practicing this sport at only 3 years old and his potential was quickly detected. “I have never had or known a driver so fast and with so much skill at that age (…) Mathis was able to do things that world champions at the same age could not”told his trainer Thibault Gourin to BFMTV.

It was during a test session on a circuit in Italy on July 23 that things went wrong for Mathis Bellon. Victim of a fall to the ground, he was then hit very violently by two other runners. The young boy was severely injured before being rushed to hospital. Plunged into a coma, he was then repatriated to Montpellier hospital where he died on July 30, after six days of coma and several cardiac arrests. A real drama for the parents of the little prodigy, who are going through extremely difficult times. “He was a little boy full of joy, full of gaiety, never tired and who loved to play sports. He rode a bike very early, at the age of 2”“said his mother, Aurélie to BFMTV.
