Marseille misses the mark. OM conceded the draw on the lawn of Brest (1-1), on behalf of the last Ligue 1 meeting on Sunday August 14. If the Phocaeans get back on the podium tied with Lille (4 points), they miss the opportunity to join PSG at the top of the championship.

The Marseillais struck first on their first corner, just before halftime. Staying behind, Jonathan Clauss sent a good cross to Nuno Tavares who sprung up at the far post to push the ball into the back of the net. Efficient, OM converted one of their only two shots on target in the first period to take the lead.
But Brest did not give up, and continued to put pressure on OM’s goal after returning from the locker room. On a ball cleared from a corner, Pierre Lees-Melou fired a magnificent shot outside the area to allow his team to come back up (60th).
A deserved equalizer for the Bretons, who shook the Olympians from the first minutes of the match, without complex. Under pressure, Leonardo Balerdi almost deceived his own goalkeeper with a back pass that was too strong, before Jérémy Le Douaron found the post on a good cross from Mathias Pereira Lage.
After the equalizer, the Brestois had several chances to drive the point home, but Le Douaron missed the target, first on a header from close range, then alone against Blanco. They will be satisfied with this encouraging draw, which offers them a first point this season.

Not in his match, like Arkadiusz Milik, nervous (sanctioned with a yellow from the 18th) and at the wrong time, the Marseille attack offered a lackluster performance. The entries of Alexis Sanchez, for his first minutes in the Olympian jersey, of Dimitri Payet and Cédric Bakambu have not changed anything. With 13 shots taken in the second period, against two shots attempted, the Olympians could not have hoped for much better. They are already dropping their first points this season.
