Hong Kong | Mid-October Festival opens with traditional fire dragon dance

(Hong Kong) Hong Kongers and tourists flock to the Tai Hang district of Hong Kong Island to watch the annual Fire Dragon Dance, a procession where the mythical animal is paraded through the streets by hundreds of volunteers with thousands of burning incense sticks stuck into its body.

The ritual originated in the 1800s to ward off the plague and coincides with the Mid-Autumn Festival, a traditional annual event celebrated by millions of people around the world.
