Hong Kong | An artist traces giant frescoes on the beaches

For 10 years, artist Derek Yung has used sand from Hong Kong beaches as a material and support to create immense ephemeral frescoes.

Using a simple wooden pole and a garden rake, Derek Yung transforms the sandy beaches into giant works of art that stretch along the shore.

The artist says he draws inspiration from the surrounding landscape, in particular rocks, rivers and tides, to trace his shapes and patterns on the sand.
