A 25-year-old young man involved in an accident that left two dead last September in Abitibi-Témiscamingue was ultimately accused of dangerous driving and fleeing the scene, rather than helping the victims.
“Honestly, I found him cowardly,” reacted Deanna Michel, sister of Amyrah Maranda, some time after the arrest of Nathaniel Frigon.
The young driver was recently handcuffed following a long investigation into the double-fatal accident in which he was involved on September 9, in Amos.

The impact unfortunately cost the lives of Mario Lessard, 28, and Amyrah Maranda, 21, mother of a one-year-old girl.
Frigon appeared last week at the Amos courthouse.
He faces eight charges, including dangerous driving causing death and hit and run.
Inattention
On the evening of the tragedy, the driver had three passengers on board his vehicle.
They were friends with whom he had spent the afternoon skateboarding. longboard.
Before returning, the quartet then went to two different places where they consumed alcoholic drinks, confided to the Newspaper the only survivor among the passengers, Joanie Doiron, shortly after the events.

On the way back, the 28-year-old young woman found that the Landrienne resident was “driving badly” at the wheel of his small black car.
“He had moments of inattention,” she explained to us.
She then raised her eyes to look ahead.
“We lined up in the field,” said Mme Doiron.
Disappeared
At that moment, the car left the road and rolled over, then ended up in a ditch on Airport Road.
Under the force of the collision, the vehicle severed a pole.
A cross was installed at the location where the collision with the Hydro-Québec pole took place, on Route de l’Aéroport, near Amos, in Abitibi-Témiscamingue.

Only the mother of two managed to escape from the car, among the passengers.
However, there would have been no trace of the driver, witnesses of the scene would have told him.
This version of events, which will have to be debated in court, enrages the sister of the deceased, who was the girlfriend of the accused.
“I found him cowardly for running away instead of waiting for the emergency services,” complains Dreanna Michel. I hope he [Frigon] never gonna drive again in his life and he’s gonna have time inside [en prison] which he deserves.”
