Between the Atlantic Ocean and the Pyrenees, Hondarribia is one of the treasures of the Spanish Basque Country, with its medieval architecture and traditional gastronomy. In this former fishing village, tourists are disorientated even though they have just crossed the border. With the boat, they are in Spain in seven minutes. Lovers come to recharge their batteries, but also to draw inspiration. “Madame is an architect so by the way, we are learning from it”, explains the man. In Hondarribia, there are no tourist shops, the atmosphere is authentic.

Some dwellings date from the 16th century and there are also the homes of the very last whale hunters, who made their fortune by selling their blubber. The French also come to Hondarribia for its tapas bars, reputed to be the best in the region. Prices are more attractive than in France.
