In the heart of the Dordogne, they realized a dream: building their house with their own hands. The objective: to master each site plan. From the first nail planted to the last brushstroke, the couple succeeded in their challenge by training for an intensive week to master very specific techniques. “We were accompanied by professionals to learn the skills of the trade, to know the right tools to use to avoid big balls”, explains the couple. The residence cost 150,000 euros for 130 square meters while it is worth 350,000. A gain also in terms of charges, only 60 euros per month.
Some companies offer ready-to-finish homes. The builder takes care of the foundations, wall and roof. For the rest, plumbing and electricity, it is the future owners who take care of it. Every year in France, 5,000 self-taught people are seduced by this formula.
