(Montreal) Sales of residential properties in Greater Montreal increased by 9% in September compared to the same month last year, the Professional Association of Real Estate Brokers of Quebec revealed Thursday.
A total of 2,738 properties changed hands in the region last month, up from 2,514 a year earlier, the association said.
Specifically, 1,391 single-family homes were sold in September, compared to 1,324 at the same period last year, 1,068 condominiums, compared to 944 in September 2022, and 276 plexes, compared to 245 a year earlier.
The number of active registrations stood at 16,398 in September, up 10% from 14,916 registrations in September 2022.
New listings for the month decreased 2% to 5,872, compared to 5,984 for the same month last year.
The median price of a single-family home was $549,000 in September in Montreal, up 3% from last year, while the median price of a condominium was $402,000, up 6 %.
The median price of a plex – a building with two to five units – was $730,000, up 7% from last year.
