Home care for seniors | Coalition to hold major summit in May

A coalition is organizing a major summit on keeping seniors at home.

This national meeting on home support is scheduled for May 8 in Quebec.

It notably follows the report of the Commissioner of Health and Well-being, Joanne Castonguay, tabled in January, who was concerned about the model of home care and support services in Quebec and called for its review.

Mme Castonguay will also deliver the opening speech at the summit, which is organized by the Coalition for the Dignity of Seniors, a group that brings together six associations totaling 150,000 members.

The discussions at the Rendez-vous national will focus in particular on the findings and recommendations of the report of the Commissioner for Health and Well-being.

The objective of the summit is to arrive, at the end of the exercise, to agree on a list of precise and concrete demands, which will subsequently be addressed to the government.
