(Los Angeles) British actor Benedict Cumberbatch inaugurated his star on the prestigious Hollywood Walk of Fame on Monday, just weeks before the Oscars where he will be in the running for the trophy for best actor.

During this ceremony, the star of the film The Power of the Dog received praise from Marvel Studios boss Kevin Feige as well as director JJ Abrams (star trek and Star Wars).
For Benedict Cumberbatch, who is reprising his role as Dr Strange in the upcoming Marvel slated for May, this star in Hollywood is an “extraordinary honor.”
“I’m British, so part of me finds it incredibly painful,” he told the fans gathered for the occasion on the Walk of Fame. “The other side really appreciates having their ego flattered,” the actor joked.
In his speech, he notably denounced the invasion of Ukraine by Russia and called for mobilization against this attack.
“We can no longer stand back. The time is no longer for avarice or laziness in action or nonsense. We must act,” said Benedict Cumberbatch. “Support human rights organizations… Lobby your politicians, your bank, your industries,” he said.
Revealed to the general public by its role as sherlock holmes in the BBC series modernizing the famous “detective”, Benedict Cumberbatch is one of five artists in the running for the Oscar for best actor, facing Javier Bardem, Andrew Garfield, Will Smith and Denzel Washington
In total, the black and psychological western directed by Jane Campion, in which he plays a tormented cowboy, received twelve nominations.
The 94and edition of the Oscars is due to take place in Hollywood on March 27.
