If we celebrate Christmas a bit at Taiwan with friends and family, especially for children, it’s not really the main celebration of the year. The Chinese New Year is the most significant tradition of the year. In 2022, we will be celebrating the Year of the Tiger on February 1.
During this period, family and friends gather around a Chinese fondue, for a whole week. And for the gifts, the parents have a ritual: it is a red envelope which is given to the children, with pocket money inside. During this period, decorations are also ubiquitous: in restaurants, shops, streets and homes!
New Year’s Eve in Taiwan is also celebrated on the night of December 31 to January 1, with pretty fireworks, and events, especially in Taipei, the capital.
祝 你 圣诞 快ociation!
